The road to the waterfalls is picturesque in itself: the narrow Chegem Gorge with sheer cliffs on both sides creates a feeling of traveling deep into the earth. The main spectacle awaits you at the section that locals call Su-Auzu, which translates as “water coming out of the throat.” Here, dozens, and in spring, hundreds of water streams cascade directly from the rock walls hanging over the road. Water falls from a height of up to sixty meters, breaking against stones and creating clouds of mist in which rainbows play. You can step out of the car and walk right under the waterfalls, feeling their power and coolness. The excursion continues to the Main Chegem Waterfall — a powerful cascade plunging into a deep gorge. Along the way, you will visit a market of local artisans selling knitted items made of mountain goat wool, smoked cheese, and mountain honey.
